Eliminated admin password in boot, now can't get past blue screen of d

The pic on the left is the drivers i usually install after Win 7 is installed from an ISO disk, do i need these and which ones are necessary for install. I install Win 7 then these drivers and then install Win 7 updates.

I don't understand the Win 7 is driver complete comment when i need to install all these extras.

What makes you think you need to supply all of those drivers? That's XP-era installation procedure, not Win7.

Again, Win7 is driver-complete in the installer and once you get online to enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) then run all rounds of Important and Optional Windows Updates to completion - when prompted for reboot, after it restarts go back to check for more Updates until there are none.

Then you only need to install the drivers which are still missing in Device Manager, from the Support Downloads webpage for your PC or device model - not an outdated disk or driver file.

If you didn't install your OS this way then you didn't do it correctly. We stopped needing to install a bunch of drivers into a fresh install after XP ten years ago.

I would start over and follow these steps to get and keep a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

This is the second time I wrote all of this out for you. Yesterday we had a case where I wrote it out four times and when the OP actually did it correctly was when his install problem was resolved after several days. Why is it so hard to understand?

I'll tell you exactly whats so hard to understand, not all of us had a computer and even know what XP was until about a half year ago, i am BRAND NEW to all of this and only logged into a computer for the first time a few months ago, i know nothing about drivers and computer systems.

Even following the tutorial is confusing as hell for some of us. That's why it's so hard to understand, next time someone can't understand things , instead of throwing up your arms like wtf, consider not everyone knows as much as you do and some people have learning disabilities.

By the way, every re install i did when going into devices and printers had the " let windows automatically install updates" is always set that way.

Where are you stuck at ?

What gregrocker was trying to say is back in Windows XP days when you want to install a piece of hardware you would have to install a driver for it. A driver is a piece of software that talks to the hardware that you're installing.

Windows 7 and the new Windows 8 does not require any drivers to be used while installing Windows or hardware like Printers, external Hard drives and other external devices.

The re install problems i had in the past was because i had to go online without protection and download protection and windows updates and wait for them to install. I have IE 8 and needed to use it to get online to do this but i know IE 8 is vulnerable . Unfortunately i always got infected by doing this .

Someone suggested that i should have someone install the browsers and AV onto a disk before going online so i wouldn't have to deal with IE 8 .

I always turned off IE 8 before going online and used the browser that was burned to a disk, i don't know if that acceptable or not.

The other thing i experienced is without downloading the drivers like USB controllers and PCI stuff from the disk windows updates would always have trouble installing, it seems to install windows updates you should have certain drivers installed from the Asus website.

When i troubleshooted windows updates it said the problem was i didn't have the drivers needed to install them flawlessly and those drivers were found on the disk i was given.

I DID CHECK OFF INSTALL ALL DRIVERS with the recommended settings during the win 7 initial install though so i am doing it correctly.

You can install your AV first thing if you're concerned about getting infected. Windows Update will even offer MSE to you if you haven't installed one during the Updating process.

What's important is then to run all rounds of Important and Optional Updates to completion. Have you done this now? The last one is normally Net Framework 4 client.

If so what drivers are still missing in Device Manager? We can help you find these.

I will tell you exactly how i do it step by step and please tell me if i'm off track. I know all about device manager, thats not the issue, here it goes

Step #1 / i go into boot to make the machine boot of the dvd, i then put in my Win 7 iso and wait for Windows to install until i get to the screen that says advanced option, i select it and then i format then delete the main partition and the 100mb partition and now only have a 596.2 free space partition.

i let Windows continue to install until i reach the product key and install passwords screen, i do both and when Windows is finally done rebooting and the install is finished i takeout the ISO and put in my dvd that has the Asus drivers. (i am not sure when i should change back the boot order so please advise or maybe it doesn't matter)

Before installing the Lan driver to get online i type in the search box "turn windows features on /off "and turn off IE8 and reboot. I then install my AV and Firefox and then go to devices and printers but that usually is not necessary because it always says install all recommended updates and drivers automatically anyway and i don't need to make any changes.

I then install the Lan driver and go online and do all Windows updates which i just keep checking and rebooting and rechecking and rebooting until it says no more updates available for your computer.

Where am i going wrong ?

For the Asus driver cd you don't have to boot off that disc . You use it inside Windows . Is there a reason why you removing IE inside Windows Features ? Is it that you don't want to use IE8 which is normal for the non IE Fans . Lol that was google's idea to have that option put it . Google didn't like how IE is the automatic choice of default browser .

If you have the Ethernet cable plugged in while you install Windows it will automatically install the LAN driver .

The reason i turn off IE8 is because everytime i didn't turn it off i got that PUMHIJACKHO issue . Since turning it off i have not been effected by it.

I am piggybacking off a family members wireless, nothing to plug in.

Are the steps i outlined correct or do i need to change something?

A wireless router has 4 Ethernet ports on the back of it . That you could plug into while you're installing Windows . The steps you're doing is fine with me I don't see any issues with it . Except for you don't need to boot off the driver cd .

When i say wireless i mean no router or anything, it's just a wireless signal.

Is going with a VPN or just using something like True crypt better for security?

It sounds like you are installing correctly. Are there any drivers missing in Device manager after all rounds of Updates?

If not then how is performance and are there any problems. I usually check the logs, System Resources and assure a Clean Boot to check it over using Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 as I go or once it's setup. Then if all is well capture a Win7 backup image externally so you never have to reinstall again.

Review the steps once more in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 to see if you overlooked anything.

The 6150 wireless adapter is always the one that goes missing , even after all updates are installed. It doesn't seem to be causing any issue though as the computer works fine. Not sure if it's necessary to install it.

This is why it says clearly in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 to have your wireless driver in your backup so if the installer doesn't provide it you can install it to get online quickly to run all of your Windows Updates.

Find the latest driver on the Support Downloads webpage for your model PC here: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Drivers and Download U56E. As there are a number listed under Wireless LAN go by the make of the Wireless Device listed in Device manager, trace it using Hardware Identification, or try each one shown until it installs if you don't know the make and model of the actual device.

@herbc
Can you post a screen print of Device Manager with the Network adapters expanded to show everything listed in there?
I'm curious as it seems you can connect via wireless, even with the no driver error for "Centrino WiMAX 6150"...
Just wondering if you have 2 wireless Network adapters...
I don't have a Centrino Laptop right now to look at and see what it shows...
