My sister has a eMachines E732 laptop and had set a password to get into the BIOS. After much faffing I have managed to get into the BIOS but now find that I can't get the machine to load windows or move on from the setup screen with the big E on it.
I have tried taking the hard drive out and pressing Alt+F and then returning the hdd and it cleared the frozen but as soon as you reboot then its back.
I have been told to get a recovery disc and use that but without being mean I don't want to buy a disc and then find that it doesn't work.
Any ideas ????
Thanks in advance.

Ask you sister for all passwords. If she password protected the bios she surly password protected the operating system. It won't boot without the password.

Unfortunately she didn't set the password so I can't reset them. I have managed to break in to the bios but I can't get the machine to boot up.

Reading you posts again it seem like there is a password for bios and and for Windows 7.
You don't have the passwords and your sister doesn't have the passwords.

Somebody set the passwords. They don't install themselves.
I can not give any more suggestions.
