Thank you but this tutorial doesn't help as it doesn't show how to enable system protection on boot up - without enabling system protection I cannot do a system restore!

If System Restore was not enabled before the problem, you can not do a System Restore now. There is nothing to Restore.

It was not enabled before so no Restore Points were made. At this time there is nothing to restore. When you get the PC going again you can enable it and from that time Restore Points will be made. A System Restore will not help at this time. == Post the Pics that you were going to post in the first message. Maybe we can help.

Thanks so much - it actually shows two restore points but with each it then says system protection must be enabled for the local disk (C:) drive??
The pictures won't upload sorry!

To explain further:
I am given two system restore points to choose from, when I select either and 'next' I am asked to confirm disks to restore. The only option is Local Disk (C: ) (System) - in the status bar it says 'You mist enable System Protection on this drive' the 'next' button is not highlighted.

Hard to tell what you mean without screenshots.

What precisely do you mean by "they won't upload" ?

My phone just can't upload them - keep getting an error message.
I will explain again...

I recently installed the 'media go' from pc companion software for my Sony phone. During installation my acer laptop crashed and now when I boot up I am asked to launch normally - which flashes a blue screen and the laptop restarts automatically. Or I can launch a system repair this is unsuccessful and I can then open the system recovery options. When trying to do a system restore I am shown two previous restore points but then I am told I must enable system protection on the local disk (C:) drive??? And cannot continue without doing so...
Is there any way of doing this through a command prompt??

Let's try something different since we are having a problem with System Restore. == If you have a Win 7 DVD, try to boot with it and select Startup Repair. If you can run that you might be on your way to getting this fixed. Run Startup Repair three times.
