I turned off MSE, stopped the auto set up, opened the files on the installation disk, right-clicked set-up, and changed compatibility to Win 7, and ran the set-up. The Epson Scan shows up in Programs and there's a short-cut on the desktop, so the software installed. I then connected the scanner to my laptop with the USB cable that came with the scanner, and turned the scanner on. (one thing that I noted is that the scanner didn't go through that initial startup when I turned it on, just the green light on the front came on.)

Device Manager doesn't show it, the Printers and Devices doesn't show it, nor does the Cameras and Scanners. If I click on the desktop icon, I get an error message that says there's a communication problem with the scanner and to check the cables, make sure its turned on, etc.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, downloaded the updated drivers from the Epson website, and tried a few of the other suggestions in other threads, to no avail.

Obviously, others have gotten this scanner working with Win 7, but I can't find any info on how. Can someone please help me get this thing going?

Thanks!!

Hello and welcome Max mate the software was this the download you had pulled up?? Epson Perfection V500 Photo, Drivers & Downloads - Technical Support - Epson America, Inc.

I am assuming you have the instructions in a manual did you follow them to the letter??

Now what I would try is to uninstall the software and reinstall them - had similar issues with a HP all in one recently and that cured it.

Another thought just reseat the cables and while you are at it check the contacts at each end.

Another option might be to go wifi!!
