hi looks like the hole team are on this one i did the system restor because i thought you saide do it anyway so i did as i am told i will follow you all to the letter as i do need help but one question do i really want to install new java when java say on their site to get it to work properly you first have to remove all the old versions and i thought that was what we were trying to do first before reinstalling any java thanks you all

If so, you have the latest, are you having issues with Youtube or other Java functions?

now i get the problem i was getting before when i was told to remove all old java i cant get into the java site it crashes every time tried yout link crashes befor i can get in

Sorry I have been having problems of my own so I couldn't answer, I wanted to point you to this; |MG| Revo Uninstaller 1.92 Download
Now that we have sorted the original problem use it to uninstall all instances of Java and then you should be able to reinstall the newest version and hopefully have no more problems.

hi used revo uninstaller here are the results you know i have done all the things you are telling me to do around four 6 or 7 times each i am getting very concerned now as i know nothing about all this sort of thing a newby silver surfer but no seems to be able to cure it do you think you can or are we fast running out of options

I think we are running out of options.
It allowed you to install the newest Java which means we have achieved something and I think you are getting these faults maybe because there is not enough left of the old versions to uninstall them
The IE problems you have happen becausethe newest Java has not installed properly as opposed to the remnants are causing problems, so I propose that we try to get the newest Java installed properly.
Are you able to uninstall the newest Java? if yes try reinstalling it again to see if it goes better on the second attempt.
Here is a post from another forum; http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=182720 where someone has a very similar problem, it might help if you read through it in case I have missed something.
If all else fails the only answer will be to reset your windows back to the factory defaults but you will need to back up all your personal things before doing it.

well i have done it i went to registry and made a copy then deleted everything i could find to do with java and there was a lot even after regedit java ra had supposidely removed them all i found 18 entrys so i took the chance and went ahead and deleted them then installed lates vesion all went A OK

well when i found even though latsest java was installed it wasnt working and couldnt get on to any sites tryed to reinstall kept getting message saying allready installed do i want to install anyway when iclicked yes it saide with a big red x this facility is only for java allready installed could'nt get passed this so made decision to do what i did and everything working perfectly not bad for a silver surfer i feel very pleased with myself and thank you all for your very kind and friendly help much appreciated good luck to you all pat

Hi one last question has java got a controlls setting console as there use to be an icon you could click on to get to it in control pannel but not there anymore it was used to change settings just interested to know thanks

The Icon should still be there, I think you find it under programs.
