Error 0x800750AD when copying a 175gb file to NAS USB external......

......even though a 163gb file copied fine.

There is enough space, as it's a 2.7TB (i.e. 3TB) drive.
Drive is connected via NAS's USB3 external connection.
File is being moved from NAS's (Netgear ReadyNAS Duo V2) internal drive to it's external USB drive.

just a suggestion - is the 175GB source file on a GPT drive - IMO when messing around with large files I'd make the HDD's all GPT even though this is only mandatory for HDD's > 2TB.

USB3 also on W7 tends to be a bit "flakey" - what you could do is use something like Acronis to "backup" the 175 GB file to the NAS (Acronis can backup in "Data mode") and then restore it to the NAS. Then delete the backup file- OK a bit "Round the houses" but this method should work.

(Note GPT drives won't BOOT though unless you have a UEFI BIOS -- you don't have to enable PROTECTED BOOT though - that's another issue).

The file I'm trying to copy is actually an Acronis backup file, just like the other files that copied successfully.

The file is being copied from the internal drive in the NAS, to the external drive in the NAS, if that makes sense.

I've googled the error message, but with no results.

are you copying the acronis file with Windows explorer or are you using the acronis RECOVERY / restore function.

The other possible solution is to MOUNT the .tib file and then copy in stages all the files in the .tib file manually (select say 50 GB per selection),

Hi there.

Windows explorer does have problems with Huge files -- not sure what the limit is but it has to create some temporary workspace etc to copy the files -- what tends to happen is that it goes to a hidden area under your user space - then to finalize the copy it moves it from the workspace to the target.

I'd definitely try and open the .tib file and move in chunks or simply restore via acronis from the "external drive" to the NAS.

If you want this as a backup .tib file rather than the individual files - then back it up with acronis directly to the NAS.

I think it's safe to say 175gb is, or is over, the limit then.
I'll do the back up again.

So is this error message the rarest in captivity... ?
