Error Code 0x800CCC0F – Windows Live Mail

If you do a search online for the error code 0x800CCC0F while using Windows Live Mail there are so many people encountering the same problem. And the same suggestions are always offered as possible solutions none of which in my case have helped. I would like to add an additional detail to the conversation that I haven’t seen anyone else mention.

When I turn on my computer and open Windows Live Mail, I immediately get the error code mentioned above and no e-mails will download into my Inbox. I have to go to Yahoo Mail online in order to read them. However, if I let my laptop go to sleep then revive it (but without typing in my Windows password) my e-mails will ultimately download into WLM. Does this information add anything to the mystery of this annoying error code? In other words, re-booting the computer doesn’t help but if I let my computer fall into sleep mode then revive it by pressing just the start button, the e-mails tend to then download about 10-45 seconds later. Minutes later, after that one successful download of e-mails I will get the error code again and no additional e-mails will come in unless I repeat my little trick and even that doesn't always work either. This is a terrible work-around and I’m hoping to find a better solution.

Hello and welcome Mrs Federer I have a similar problem with my laptop but without the error code.

with mine I either have to reboot the machine and / or the wifi adaptor or sign in again.

It is most annoying I will grant you but I find doing these helps for a while. Mind you I never have my machine in sleep as I move around too much so I have no idea re that part.

The other solution is to uninstall WLM and reinstall and I know that is tedious to say the least:(

Thanks for your reply, ICit2lol. I should have added that I used to get this error with my old laptop too, then last fall I bought a new Lenovo, downloaded Windows Live Mail (much prefer its simplicity compared to Outlook especially when it actually works), but proceeded to get the exact same error code again. So it feels more like some kind of setting glitch than a system file needing repair. As for the sleep mode trick, once I discovered it, I decreased the time it took for my computer to fall into sleep mode in order to intentionally trigger this result.

So you have a yahoo mail account too? Now I am just wondering if this might help but I have two separate accounts in my WLM one is my Hotmail.com and the other my old bigpond.com(local provider) as a secondary account. I added the Hotmail because the other kept crashing for all sorts of really annoying reasons, and I have not had many problems since - only when I am in a poor reception area.
So could you try adding the yahoo account to WLM and use it as the default account?? The mail for the other account will still download but if you can get mail from yahoo without the problem happening I reckon it is worth a try.

I only have one account which I run thru WLM and that's my Yahoo account (my main account). I don't like Yahoo Mail (the website) especially now that e-mail conversations are threaded like Gmail. I feel like many other people who've encountered this error seem to be Yahoo users as well. There must be a connection. If only some smart person at Yahoo could figure this out.

How do you have the client configured to send and recieve mail?
?? automatically receive
?? start client at Windows startup
?? send immediately

How do you have the Yahoo account set up in the client?
Server names
Server Ports
encryption (clear text?)
SSL required?

Sometimes there's a race condition, sometimes there's a change to servers, sometimes there's an alternative port.

I don't let the client decided when to start or when to send and recieves. I setup the quick access bar so all it takes is one click to send and recieve. I can read at my leisure and send when I'm finished my thoughts without having to save as a draft and , then send it.

I do get a server error infrequently though - that happens on all of the servers I use, not just Yahoo.

This brought up an interesting subject

Do you have a security suite that checks eMail? (lots of Antivirus suites do)
Try turning of the eMail checking in the suite and see if that helps.
