There are 2 updates that fail, kb2943357 & kb2973112. Beside code 800B0100, I have also seen error code 80246007. I have run SFC, the dotnet fixit tool, & others; nothing has worked. SUR says it can't fix 800B0100 & a cryptographic error!? I tried placing some files in the \windows\checksur folder, but that didn't change anything. The log files are attached.

Thanks for your help.

I have copied the files as instructed & run SUR again with the same error message displayed as before. However, it is not generating a new log file; both files have the same 11/6 date stamp as before. I am attaching the zips. I found an "ouputs.txt" file that is in "checkSURlog.cab" that is new & I am also attaching that.

I tried doing a manual install of Windows6.1-KB2943357-x64.msu with the same failure as before.

Thanks

Please try running the CheckSUR tool again - it's the KB947821 executable that you downloaded (not the SFC /SCANNOW)
post the new CBS folder in its entirety.

Ooops, sorry, I got confused with all the things I had tried. Attached are 3 CBS zips, if I put all the files from the CBS folder in 1 zip, it was over the size limit.

I have not tried running the updates yet.

All the errors were fixed.

Please now run SFC /SCANNOW from an elevated Command Prompt, and post just the new CBS.log file - you'll have to copy it to the desktop before zipping it for upload.

Yes, that is good news. Here is the CBS.log. The response from SFC was no problems, but windows won't let me read the log file (access denied).

Thanks for all your help!

I can see no significant problems in the CBS.log - with any luck, WU should work now...

Open Windows Updates, and do a new Check For Updates.
Attempt to install ONLY the oldest update found.
If it works OK - try the remainder.
If it fails, post the error message, and the C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file.

Hi Noel

I am having a similar problem again. I started a new post in performance & maintenance "sfc cannot repair files". (Sorry, I don't now how to do a link to another post) I probably should have just added here to start with, but at the time it didn't seem to be update related. But, now that I have read the log files, it does seem related. Since you were very helpful, I hope you will take a look.

Dave

No - you almost certainly do NOT have exactly the same problem!
Please start a new thread of your own, and post the required data...

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data

If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

Please also post the C:\Windows\windowsudpate.log file

OK, I solved problem. I used "expand" command from downloaded KB file, put files in \TEMP\CheckSUR\ folders, ran System Update Readiness Tool and then KB2943357 update was installed with no error.
