While performing system restore I lost power and my hp pavillion dv6 got shutdown. When I tried to boot, using the original windows 7 64 bit cd, I get the message: Error occurd while attempting to read the boot configuration data: Status: 0xc0000225. IN the next line I see File\boot\bcd. After researching I found that my bootsect.exe file missing. I copied the file from the windows 7 cd and now I get the error message: 0xc000098. need help
Thank you

I also tried the command : bootrec /rebuildbcd >> I get the message: total identified windows installations: 0 instead of 1. So, the system is not recognizing harddrive? But, I just copied all my documents from hard drives to an external hard drive. It's the boot is not recognizing the hard drive.

Hi thakur, welcome to SF.

Does your computer support booting from a usb drive? Have a friend download the win 7 repair disc on to a CD/DVD and try that. You can check this web site for your repair disk.

I have tried the original windows 7 dvd and also repair dvd, as my laptop is only two years old with all bells and whisles. It has I7 chip, 8GB mem, 750GBs harddrive. The DVDs are helping me to boot up to the a window that gives me 5 or 6 options to do diagnositc test and gives me command prompt. As the bootsect.exe file was missing in C:\boot (May be it is a hidden file), I copied this file from windows 7 dvd and tried then, I got a error message : : 0xc000098,
I also tried the command : bootrec /rebuildbcd >> I get the message: total identified windows installations: 0 instead of 1. So, the system is not recognizing harddrive?

Does it show up in BIOS?
I have my fingers crossed for you that the drive isn't toast.
Losing power during an operation like that is never a good thing.
