Hello,

I have read a lot of helpful information on this site, so for that I want to say thanks!

I am struggling to fix the error that I get upon startup on my Toshiba Satellite L655 which Reads"

RunDLL
Error in C:\Users\(my name)\AppData\Roaming\actxprxy1.dll
Missing entry:Igwq

I just realized that this isn't referencing actxprxy.dll - it has a "1" stuck in there which is raising a red flag for me and may be why all my google searches come up empty.

I have updated windows, which I didn't update currently because I keep it up to date, I have run Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool which found nothing, I have run Malwarebytes which found nothing I have of course run my current anti-virus, malware, registry cleaner software and it says all is good too. Nothing is running poorly on my computer but I am starting to think that there was something that happened and my computer was able to remove it but maybe not all of it or there are damaged files from it? I am not super computer saavy but I do pretty well and can definately can follow good directions. I would really appreciate any help with this that anyone can provide! :)

Thanks,
Gaby

Hello,

Is there a actxprxy.dll present?

Is there an error in your event logs? When does the error display?

I have looked through the event logs that I know to look at, and can find nothing. Is there somewhere in particular that I should be looking? And yes, I can find the actxprxy.dll in the registry it appears like this: C:\Windows\system32\actxprxy.dll

I hope that helps...

I can also find actxprxy1.dll in the registry, maybe it shouldn't be there? The name comes up as "wnyqcrxxof" type is REG_SZ and the data is listed as: rundll32 "C:\Users\(my name)\AppData\Roaming\actxprxy1.dll",Igwq and the file path in the registry is: HKEY_USERS, S-1-5-21-1172994585-3447494566-3799932842-1001, Software, Microsoft, Windows, CurrentVersion, Run, then the file

Hope this isn't information I shouldn't be posting.

Again, thanks for the help!

Check in msconfig to see if it starts up as a service. If it does, disable it.

If this doesnt work or its not in msconfig then I Personally would take a backup of your PC (Windows Backup) - Just incase and then move the C:\Users\(my name)\AppData\Roaming\actxprxy1.dll to your desktop and then restart the PC to see if it brings up an error.

I dont think the file is needed... I think when you login its trying to run the .dll but its not registered as a service so is generating the error.

Okay, so I was thinking of the logs from all the malware and virus software and those come up blank. Looking at the windows event logs there is a ton of stuff. I don't really know how to sift through this all to find what I might be looking for.

Okay, I can definately do that and it has been a couple of months since my last backup so that is a good idea anyway. Thank you for your help and I will check back this afternoon to see if there is any other advice and to post any results I have had.

Yea, that's no good. You shouldn't have a DLL in that portion of the registry that is cued up to be run when you log in to the computer.

FliGi7, I had a feeling it shouldn't be there and I am disappointed my registry cleaner hasn't picked it up. I am going to do a back up as suggested above, then move actproxy1.dll to the desktop as recommended. I am guessing if all goes well from there I can just delete it and empty the recycle bin?

Thanks!

A registry cleaner isn't often going to pick up on things like that because it doesn't know how to distinguish between the legitimate programs that use things like that and malicious ones. Either way, the only thing close to a registry cleaner that I (or most anyone) would condone using is CCleaner. The rest just seem to cause more problems than anything else.

Thanks for the info on the registry cleaner, I will not waste my $ on renewing the one I have :) Here I go now to remove the file/program. My back up is finally complete.

I want to thank you both! I have deleted the problem (couldn't move it to the desktop) and I restarted my laptop and no error! Everything seems to be fine. I really appreciate the help!!!!! :)

Agreed ccleaner is the only one that I would safely recommend.

Move the file and then see how it goes for a couple of days. If you are thinking about making changes directly to the registry, BACK UP first!
