I have done a clean reinstall of windows however when I enter my product key I get error code 0xc004f063.
It is a Packard bell laptop running Windows 7 build 7601.

Try activation by phone in the first instance. If that doesn't work, you will need to recreate the licence store - I'll post details once you report back on phone activation.

Phone activation:
1. Go to the System Properties page
2. Click on the Change Product Key link at the bottom – follow the instructions, and then activate by phone.

Its got Acer Bios tags with a Packard Bell OEM key.
As well as having some missing bios detail, which that error code relates to.

Were did you get your clean reinstall disc from.

I don't get an option to activate by phone I even tried slui.exe 4 but it just gives me the normal activation screen.

Packard Bell is owned by ACER - so the option should work.

Try this...


Recreate the Licensing Store
Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-Click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator - accept the UAC prompt
Run the following commands in the Command Prompt window, using the Enter key at the end of each

net stop sppsvc
(wait until the service has stopped before entering the following lines)

CD %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
REN tokens.dat tokens.bar
net start sppsvc
slui.exe

After a couple of seconds the Windows Activation dialog will appear.
You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key, or Activation may occur automatically.
If you are asked for your Key, use the one on the COA sticker on the machine's case

Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report.

(Note: the Line 'CD %win......\SoftwareProtectionPlatform' is all on one line - it may be broken in the Forum listing)

The code on my COA sticker had worn off, before I reinstalled I used a utility(cant remember what I used) to retrieve the product key. Is this what is causing the problem?

Yup.
The installed Key ONLY works when used with the manufacturer's Recovery media (which should have it embedded).
Is the P-B Recovery system still intact?
If not, you'll have to see if you can either buy a set of Recovery disks from them, or persuade MS to part with a Key...

If you are patient and persistent...
Attempt Telephone Activation, and speak to an operator - they will tell you that your current Key is blocked (they should then ask for confirmation of your Product Key). Explain to them your problem, that you need to change the Key to the one on your sticker, but that the sticker is unreadable (could they please supply a replacement Key?). Hopefully they will ask for documentary proof of the sticker, in the form of an email with a picture of the affected sticker - and you can proceed from there.
Sometimes it takes two or three calls before you get an operator who actually knows and uses this procedure - but I know that it can and does happen.
