Need help with error code 80004005

Hello,

I am calling out for help again about this ERROR CODE 80004005 (SP1 update).

I cannot do a clean install because of the way Samsung Laptops are configured. I'm not 100% that this info is accurate but that's what I learned after reading some threads concerning a clean install for samsung laptops. Please feel free to correct me if you find me wrong about this.

I've tried Microsoft fixit tools including that Update Readiness tool but to no avail.

I never used Windows Mail before, I am mentioning this coz I read a thread here that says that this is 1 of the causes for the 80004005 error code.

If anybody knows any fix for this please do share. Any information about this would be greatly appreciated.

IMO, A clean install on any laptop after wiping the HDD completely should be possible. I am at a loss to conceive how Samsung laptops can be different.

EDIT: OK, I read NicoleUK's thread you had referenced elsewhere. The problem as I understood from it is that of inadequate and indifferent technical support on software/drivers because of which you want to retain the original configuration and not suffer later after a clean install. You are the best judge.:) I refrain from forcing a clean install.

So what are you trying to do? You've given us an error but no description of what you're doing when you get it or what you're trying to do, unless this is only about you wanting to find a way to do a clean install on your laptop... ?

Edit: Seems the whole thread has now been copied over instead of just the 3 responses previous to mine. I will take a look before responding again.

Ok, so the current issue you are stuck on is burning the ISO you downloaded to DVD, correct? Are you still trying to do that so you can do a repair install or are you looking to go another route?

WInodws Mail is not included in Windows 7 - so it cannot be the cause of the problem.
Look elsewhere.

I successfully burned the DVD ISO using BurnAware.

Also, I already did the repair install successfully but when it came to updating I got more failed updates than before. It was only SP1 update that failed before and after the repair install the failed update count blew up to 16 with only one error code which was 80004005.

I just used my latest image backup to restore my system which had the 1 failed update (SP1).

Up until now I haven't found any fix for this error code 80004005.
