(So yeah, i got a custom built computer, i'm sitting here play WoW (World of warcraft) and a little LoL (League of Legands) and all of a sudden my moniter shuts off, I'm like "darn, prolly kicked out vga cable" i get up, look at it, nothing moved. So i force power down, and start it back up, no biggie, stuff happens. Then it starts happening more and more often, I'm like "alright prolly the graphics card" i bring it to work, and i run PC Doctor 7.15 (i think) turns out my pci card is fried, running at like 120celc. super hot. so i switch it out. Same problem, I wind up switching out for the same Geforce9400gt, they all burn out, i switch to the 9500, it ROARS, like no ones buisness, i guess i picked out 4 lemons. once i get the 9500 i get the Moniter cutting off, and a message from my moniter "No display" and it happens not from watching movies or shows that i have saved on my HDD, but when i play LoL or WoW, no more than 10 mins into the game it happens. which... really boils my blood. I call microsoft, (the guy i was talking to had patience up the wazoo) i'm on the phone with him for about 3 hours, hes doing everything he can, we call nvidia, he says its pny's doing, we call pny, he says its the power supply. I go back to my store, buy a 500watt power suply, come home, install it, same thing happens. I go back to my store, run the doctor again, theres a failed IEEE port on my mobo, i disable it, switch out my Geforce 9500 for the GT240, installed it about.. an hour ago, nvidia's installer didnt work, i restarted and tried to use microsofts, and i have this tiny resolution, i'm running like 1200 x 700 (its too small and infuriating me) I check to see if i can try to start up a game, I pick WoW, start playing, low and behold 10 mins into it my screen goes blank, and as i'm about to pick the tower up to chuck it at the wall, it blinks back! (i think it felt my rage) and it says in the corner "Nvlddmkm has stopped working but has recovered. " I instantly go to the event viewer and the title of this is what happened. I've tested all memory, nothing wrong, all ports work fine, (not too sure whats going on with the drivers) but i found the problem. FFS someone help before this lowly geek thats run out of options looses it. Oh also i'm running windows 7 ult. 64bit

Hi,

Check the airflow inside your case as it is very unusual for so many cards to burn out - I would also suspect your PSU for this reason. What model PSU are you using?

The other very likely possibility is that your motherboard is broken.

Look inside your case for any labels on your PSU - they should be visible with the PSU in place.

Same goddamned error keeps popping up, and i have to wait till tomorrow to call anyone. compleatly ruined night. About to slam thing pos on the concrete outa my 5th story window and buy a name brand one, at least then i can call someone any hour of the day and there could be a reason why the computer is a pos. -_- i'm super pissed off.

Ok, as I said before it appears to be either the PSU or Motherboard at fault. Apart from the possibility that something is set wrong in your BIOS we are definitely looking at a hardware fault here.

I also note that you have already replaced your PSU?

Have a look around in BIOS for any settings that could possibly be causing this problem, if you can't find any then I would replace your motherboard (it is your choice, you could decide to try replacing your PSU again first)

i went to the ASUS website (which is a horror in itself) and i downloaded the updater (which did nothing, i doubt it even works) i called them (they dont answer, even when their hours are open) and then i finally downloaded the update manually, it was all in .iso files... which i had to download deamontolls to try and figure out how to mount something, i did, it sitll didnt work, tried to burn it to a dvd, no luck, a cd? nope, no luck. I quit at that point, but not after making a pretty fist sized hole in the wall.

Hi,

I have attached your motherboard manual. Go to page 4-7 (67 if you type it in in the top of Adobe Reader) and you will see instructions on how to update your BIOS via EZ Flash (the best method).

To get the actual BIOS update go here: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-

And put in your Model and find the BIOS update (the one that says "M2N-SLI BIOS 1103 Fix it may take much time to boot with ATI Radeon 5850")
