Randomly, while browsing the internet, the computer crashes but never a BSOD.
In device manager, the Intel Management Engine Interface driver has the "yellow" caution icon, but I have updated this driver a few times from Intel download center but nothing....

From Event Viewer...
It also says the "Intel Management Engine Interface driver has failed to perform handshake with the firmware" which is an event ID 3, source MEIx64
This does not while playing flight simulator for a few hours though, strangely enough.

After a crash, I look in the event viewer and notice it's right after "Driver PCI returned invalid for a child device (FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF00) Event ID 56, Source: application pop up.

What I have done so far...
I have updated all of the intel drivers (chipset, Intel management interface, etc;), flashed the BIOS to see if that was the cause, took out my graphics card and plugged it back in, updated the graphics drivers, restarted a few times, checked the temperature of the cpu and gpu but all within normal limits. Cleaned the computer out (minimal dust). Front and rear fans are on the "medium" speed setting.

I took out the ram and put them back in. No change.

I tried a few different BIOS settings, first with the default settings and then trying with the manual tuning or automatic tuning (turbo boost) and still nothing.

I have used the cmd file and have done a memory diagnostic, chkdsk and used Advanced System Care Pro to see if it could do the trick. Nothing....

I have also uninstalled and re-installed Avast! internet security just to make sure...

This crashing problem has been going on since late May. Over 2 weeks and now I am stuck...

Maybe this is something else entirely, besides the Intel Management Interface?

I also tried the pci power management in "power settings" and nothing.

Also, I re-installed the 3.0 drivers as well....

From System Information...
Under System Summary, Compenents and "problem devices" the follwoing show up
Device: CPUIO Service "this device is not present, is not working, etc"
Device: Intel Management Engine Interface "this device cannot start"

System Info:

Win 7 Pro, 64bit, service pack 1
Intel DZ68BC
Core i5 2500 (non k!) 3.30 ghz 4 cores
BIOS 0039 (the latest, didn't help with problem)
8gb ram 1600hz (but only shows up as 1333)
GPU nvidia geforce gtx 560 ti, 1 gb

Event viewer is put into a txt file if you need to see it....

Also, I notice that sometimes the Event ID 56 etc etc sometimes may not actually cause the crash... sometimes the computer may flash the screen (it did this one time) but went back to normal. Apparently, this error happens often and sometimes may not crash the computer. However, after a crash, I will check the time in the event viewer and this error occurs right before the crash...

Thanks Dude.

I should have noted before that I did re-install the 3.0 usb driver, turned the power settings to moderate, then no power savings, then the other settings....still, with nothing. It happens at any given time.

I am currently in safe-mode with networking and it's not crashing....however the Intel Management Engine Interface is still having that yellow caution icon in the device manager.

I am totally lost now...

Thank you. I will do all this as you ask. However, before all of this, I thought I shouldn't put this in the BSOD forum because I have never gotten a BSOD and didn't want to get any heat for posting there. Thank you sir.

Sorry, I miss read that part and thought you did have a BSOD. The posting instructions for BSOD contain other information that may help. Feel free to post it here.

That's ok. I think it could make sense to post there seeing how the problem may be similar to what could/would cause a BSOD. How should I approach to post it in the BSOD forum, without someone else mentioned that I shouldn't post there? Just curious.
Thanks for all of your help!

State it just like you did at the beginning of this post.

In device manager, the Intel Management Engine Interface driver has the "yellow" caution icon, but I have updated this driver a few times from Intel download center but nothing....
