Event viewer errors

I recently called two separate tech support people who remotely accessed my computer, and used the event viewer. Inthis, they showed me that in the application list, there were 36,246 entries, and in the system catagory, 58,424 entries, with lots of errors. They also said that I would need level 3 tech support in order to fix these issues, which are making my computer run extremely slow. This is super expensive. So, I was wondering if someone could show me how to fix this stuff myself, or recommend a less expensive tech support. I don't know much about computers myself.

Maybe we can help but if your computer is slow it may just be easier to do a clean install.

Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps:

Click Start Menu
Type eventvwr into Search programs and files (do not hit enter)
Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
Expand Custom Views
Click Administrative Events
Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Right click Errors.evtx -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file here.

Does that mean to restore to factory conditions? I did a CHKDSK last night, but haven't checked it since.

I went to the tutorial, and it says you have to use an installation disk. I didn't get one with the computer I have, everything was pre-installed when I bought it. Can I do it without a disk? Or create one? Contacting microsoft, they said this is an OEM license

Ok, so I downloaded a windows 7 home premium ISO, and used the eicfg removal tool on it, then created a bootable windows 7 usb. Can I use this to do a repair install?

Yes. You can use that to do a repair install. Make sure to use the product key on the side of your computer to activate your new Windows 7 installation.

Tommy,
A couple of matters:
1. your system specs:
Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec
(left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

Add the word laptop or desktop or netbook to the
“system manufacturer” block, for example,
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.
==========================================

2. Let's clean out yuur logs so that you only have the new problems showing up.

View attachment Clear Event Logs Using a Batch File.zip

3. here's a quick presentation of how to run chkdsk.
Go To an Elevated Command Prompt

Elevated command prompt = Run CMD.EXE as administrator
WIN | type CMD.EXE | do not hit Enter |
CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER keycombo| YES

WIN is the key with the Microsoft flag on top.

Now type following:
CHKDSK C: /R
and hit enter

If you are told chkdsk will be run at next reboot, then reboot now.

Run chkdsk on EACH AND EVERY drive letter in you system (except fot the dvd drive).
