Hello, I am trying to solve a BSOD problem.

Part of doing that involves fixing errors that appear in the event viewer.

For this post I wish to concentrate on removing eventID 3010 errors.

I have run sfc /scannow in the last couple of days (been working on this problem for about 7 days now).

As you can see I have a few outstanding errors, there were a lot more, but I have followed two guides:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee619779(v=ws.10).aspx and
The Tech Cookbook – Fixing Windows Update Agent issues (version 320 and 256) which removed/solved/reduced the errors down to what it is now.

I presume one of the issues I have is that the version of ie on my install disk is not the same as the one being asked for.

As for what win8ip is or where to download it from...well that's what led me to here...

I have not started to find out what to do with the "Missing Deployment Key" entries yet.

I am hoping that, for this part of my fix, someone will provide me with the missing files and explain how to deal with the 'other' stuff in the checkSUR.log. I believe once SURT works without error, then the events should not appear in the event viewer, ie be resolved.

Lots of copy'n'paste below...

Here is the CheckSUR.log:

I'll post a fix for the package and manifest errors later.

The other errors can be handled in a number of ways -

I need to have a look at your COMPONENTS registry hive

Please copy the C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS file (no extension) to your desktop and then compress it - upload the compressed file to your favoured fileshare site (preferably Dropbox or OneDrive) and post a link.

Sorry but I am unable to copy that file, it has a little padlock on it, and states "the file is open in another program". I have no other programs running, so I guess it must be open by the system somewhere.

You can just boot to Safe Mode - the hive isn't loaded there, so doesn't get locked.

I was worried that there was corruption in the hive - but it looks OK (so far). I'll try working on it over the next day or two.

In the meantime, back to your missing/corrupt package and Manifest files...

I've uploaded a file - aplaa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder aplaa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be two folders inside it (Manifests, and Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

And the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

Here is a curious thing. I just rebooted, and as usual got my BSOD.

I then booted into safe mode. In the event viewer I got a list of 3010 errors, the same ones as posted at the top of this thread.

Odd I thought, so I ran SURT again. CheckSUR.log showed that the errors I had associated with those in the event viewer were fixed.

ie Event viewer has an error for 3010 as Package_for_KB2660465_SP1~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.2.cat There was a CheckSUR entry for Package_for_KB2660465_SP1~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.2.cat. After using the files you kindly provided, the first run of SURT showed a Fix against that error.

Indeed CheckSUR does not contain any errors against that cat file.

Here's the first batch of fixes - it's going to look pretty bad at first!

I've uploaded a file - apex.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it to your desktop.
Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Save it to the default location
This should create a file apex.reg

Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following command

REG LOAD HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS

Then right-click on the apex.reg file, and select Merge
Accept the warnings, - you should then get a 'Success' message.
Close all windows, and reboot.

Run CheckSUR again, and post the new log.
