Every single tray icon vanished

I first noticed this after IMing someone and going to close Windows Live Messenger 2011. If I right click anywhere in the space, the toolbar menu is shown. The only hidden icon is the one that I put there on purpose. All others are inaccessible.

I am using Windows 7 x64.

Nvidia GeForce 9600 GSO with 768MB, if that matters.

You might see if resetting the notification system icons may be able to help afterwards.
