A poster in another thread posted asking about this new free Beta product. I installed it last night after making new system images. I doubt I'd have a need for it, but wanted to see how it played with my other active security, and what kind of resources it uses.

I show 1 process and in monitoring it's usage it remains very low. I have Avast!, Comodo Firewall with Defense+ on, Malwarebytes Pro, Superantispyware Pro, Zemana Antilogger, Winpatrol running in real time, and no conflicts whatsoever as of yet.

Note this is a Beta software, and I am not recommending it, but rather making you aware of it. They are discussing it at Wilder's, and the creator is posting in the thread as well. If you are interested in checking it out.

Running this with AppGuard on my W7 x64 machine, and no real time AV, just HitMan Pro and MBAM as on-demand scanners. While I haven't seen (and don't expect to) any alerts from ExploitShield, it does run without any issues, and uses almost no resources. It has one process that averages 1.5mb of RAM, with no disc I/O to speak of. I love the concept of nothing installing itself on my machine, unless I specifically initiate the install.

This approach does require a little more user input when intentionally installing/updating new software when compared to a real time AV, but knowing that my machine is bullet proof, is well worth the few clicks of extra effort. No more downloading the latest malware definitions that are already a day late and a dollar short in protecting from the latest threats in the wild, is one of the best side affects that AppGuard & ExploitShield provide.

So far, it's like Spyware Blaster. In so much that you don't even know it's there unless something happens. Hoping the Browser version stays free. A Guy

One thing I like is it protects multiple browsers without requiring plugins.

One small issue I see is the tray notification icon is gone after my PC comes back from hibernation - beta bug no doubt. Anyone else seeing that?

Thanks, that's good to know. I don't think you can access the UI without the tray icon so they're going to have to fix that.

pbust said that he is aware of the icon issue and hopes to have a beta update out fairly soon. (If you don't know who or what pbust is, he is one of the developers of Panda Cloud AV, and ExploitShield is his newest venture. He is a good guy.)

Yeah, I remember Pbust from the Panda Cloud AV threads. Glad to hear this is his baby :geek:

Any ideas on when it will come out of beta and be a final release?
Any problems running this in a standard user account.

I haven't heard any talk yet about when the final will be released. Since this beta is 0.7v I expect we'll see a few more betas first. Regarding running in a standard user account I haven't tried it, but there are comments in the Wilders thread which indicate there are problems. The developer checks in there regularly so you might want to join that discussion.

Current version: 0.8.1 beta

This beta 0.8.1 expires March 31, 2013. Check back to download a new version once expired.

ExploitShield - Protection Against Advanced Persistent Threats, Targeted Attacks, Financial Malware & Corporate Cyber Espionage

Came home to an issue where no browsers would launch. The processes started, and I had internet connection. Avast updated itself, and I could ping websites. Booted to Safe Mode with Networking, all browsers launched. Went into msconfig and disabled all startup items, rebooted, and...now I get a popup that ExploitSheild beta 7 has expired. Looks like it was preventing the launching, or at least the GUIs of my browsers. Don't know why, or why the popup would not appear until I disabled all my startup items.

Other than that, I have had no issue with ExploitShield, and have installed this new version. A Guy

I tried to install 0.8.1 but I got an error message regarding a dll that wasn't detecting on my machine, so I backed out of the install. I reported to pbust and he said it was because I didn't have Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable installed. They are aware of the issue and are looking at the installer.
