Hello everyone,

I am using an icon-pack (found here) that changed all the icons of my explorer folders, as shown here. (image 1)
It also changes the icons of the folder, in the taskbar, shown here. (image 2)

I would like to know if it possible to restore the default icons to the explorer icons shown in image 1, but keep the taskbar icons the same (the ones in image 2), and what the steps would be to do it.

Hopefully this makes sense, let me know if you need more information. Obviously it is not hugely detrimental if it cannot be easily done, but i thought id ask anyway.

Thanks for any help

That is an installer, it will install all icons. if you want, you can change just the taskbar icons using just a Token icon pack such as this one

Right click the pinned icon> Right click the name> Properties> Shortcut tab> Change icon> Browse to icon

Thanks for the reply.
So you mean 'uninstall' the icon pack to return all icons to default, then manually change the taskbar icon by doing the steps you just mentioned?
A questions about that;
After i have changed the pinned icon manually, and i click on it, in this case a shortcut to 'libraries', wont it open explorer with the default icon? since i have just changed the icon of the pinned image.
To explain this better, i had to use a program called 'resource hacker' to change the resource image of firefox (seen in image 2) so that the actual program icon was the silver/greyscale one, instead of the normal orange and blue firefox icon.

Ahhh, I thought those were all pinned icons :o You can just go to Start> All Programs> Right click the FF listing> Properties> Shortcut tab> Change icon> Browse to icon

This will change the icon that displays on taskbar when you open FF. I did this for WMP for instance

Would something like this work for explorer?

Explorer pinned to taskbar, yes. I'm not sure if it will then continue to work for explorer if you then unpin it. If you go to explorer.exe in the Windows folder for instance, there is no shortcut tab in properties. I do believe my icon installer did NOT change the icon on the taskbar, and I manually changed it by pinning explorer, changing it, then unpinning it. A Guy

il try using the resource hacker on the explorer.exe in the windows folder, and post back later.
Thanks for the information!

Some of the GFX experts may be along with a better method, I'm just an amateur ;)
