This Lexar Express Card SSD is an absolutely lame duck and not worth having for $60 (16GB model). And I did not see any Trim support - so it will get even slower over time. A 30 GB OCZ Vertex costs twice as much - but is more than 10 times faster. Go to Newegg and compare the specs.

I'm holding out for a X25 for my main drive, and thought an express card might have come in useful for something.

The only advantage of the Lexar is that is sitting on a faster bus than an USB stick. But I 16GB USB stick (Kingston) which is even faster I bought for $16 (from Newegg). This Lexar is just too expensive for what it is.

But the disadvantage of the USB is that it sticks out, whereas an expresscard is internal.

Yeah, that can be an argument. For the same reason my wife uses SDHC cards for storing her files. That is the easiest way to for her to carry the data between the different locations where we live (she does not carry the laptops). The SDHC cards work pretty well for that purpose. And they are relatively fast too (19/13 MB/sec read/write - compare that to the 17/14 MB/sec for the Lexar Express card SSD).
