external hard drive not showing in 'My Computer'

I have a internal western digital drive mounted in an external caddy. its not showing in Disk Drives in device manager but is showing under universal serial bus controllers as Cypress AT2LP. Its an IDE type drive and I have moved the jumper settings around but still cant get it recognised in 'My Computer'.
Anyone come across this before. Help appreciated

I also had this problem and found that the only solution was to 'flash' the EEPROM.
It was a very simple process which may require several re-boots and it does work.
