Solved Extra large icons & gadgets on start up.

Hi there, my problem is when I start up in the morning my icons and gadgets are extra large and I mean large, I solve this by right clicking on desktop, click screen resolution (which is also extra large) then click detect. This opens a normal size window and I am good to go. The display is set at (default) 100% and never changes so that isn't the problem. Also this only happens on a cold start up and not if I reboot
or restart while while I have been using the computer. I hope someone out there can help me with this small problem because it is very annoying, many thanks, Shibumi1.

What is the native resolution of your monitor and are you using it ?

Hello Shibumi,

I get this as well sometimes. I think it may be due to some conflict with the monitor numbers between AMD CCC and Windows 7 "Screen Resolution" settings. I'm thinking it may be a issue with the latest AMD video drivers.

With 3 monitors, it also switches the order of my main center #2 monitor and the far right #3 monitor.

By chance, have you been changing how (ex: HDMI, DVI, DisplayPort, etc...) the monitor is connected before this happened?

Hi Brink, No connections have been changed, it just happened on day recently, I am at a loss.

You might see if completely uninstalling the AMD video driver, then doing a clean install of it again may help if it had gotten corrupted.

You've got the dreaded refresh rate of 59hz, if i remember right people were haveing this problem and there is a fix for it but i'm not sure what the fix was. But it needs to be 1920x1080 @ 60hz.

Finally solved. It turns out that if the monitor is on standby graphics load normally, however if the monitor is turned off and Windows loads before it is turned on the graphics are extra large. So it has nothing to do with hot or cold restarts but whether the monitor in on or off before Windows loads. Many thanks to all who tried to help and I hope that this helps someone else. Shibumi1

I had the same trouble myself. Startup, Icons huge and all over the place. Restart and back to normal. I had tried various suggestions regarding Ratio and also wondered about the hearingaid battery which cause all sorts of problems last time it needed replacing. BUT quite by chance found my answer. I run on Firefox and a window appeared about FF being slow to start or not starting at all. I followed the prompts and completely cured large iconitis and speeded up PC incredibly as well.
So, Click on HELP, then TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION then RESET FIREFOX.
Hope this helps and works for you. Presumably there will be similar systems in place for other systems.
