Extract Data from Mirror Image Backup

Windows 7 Pro.
How can I extract data from mirror image backup?
Two Service Pack updates hiccupped. I didn't know that, of course. I just knew I had a problem.
I stupidly backed up everything as one package (465 gb).
The computer is repaired.
If I do a restore I re-instal the screwed up service pack updates.
I want to extract my photos, music and other data without corrupting my system.
I have a 1.5 TB external e-sata.
Please help, or tell me if I can pay to have this done.

How have you backed this up with software or simple copy if software what software

If the backup is a VHD (e.g. from a Windows image), just attach it in disk management > Action tab. Then you can open it in My Computer and copy your files.
