Hi,have just upgraded to talk talk plus, and can get F-secure internet security for free,i am currently using avast 6 free, which i presume is doing its job,as not had any virus issues.I am a very safe surfer, and make sure everyone else in the house is aswell,is it worth changing to f-secure or should i just stick with avast.thanks for looking.

F-Secure has been around for a while and is pretty well known. Since they're both free, my recommendation is to try F-Secure for a while and see how it compares to Avast. Everybody has their own personal preference as to what's "best" but ultimately you're the only one who can make that decision.

One suggestion though. Before you try any other products, make a system image of your computer and save it to an external hard drive. If a virus or other malware slips through you can restore your machine to that image and be up and running in 30 minutes or less.

As an avast! user, you can probably guess my opinion. That being said, man, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I would follow mars recommendation : you have nothing to lose by trying F-Secure. It's a well established and respected brand (I have used their bootable rescue disks with excellent results).

Another option is to keep Avast as resident, and use F-Secure as an on-demand scanner.

Regards,
Golden

Thanks for the advice, have made a full backup, but not going to try f-secure at the moment, with avast it does not slow my system down at all,i have not got the best cpu, after some thought,i think f-secure will slow my system down, but i will probably try it out at some point,i sometimes cannot help myself, and have to try things out,but that is the best way to learn. If or when i do try it out i will post back my opinions.thank you

Crap!
If you do decide to uninstall avast!, make sure you run the avast! uninstall tool after you uninstall avast! through the programs and features panel. So, uninstall through the P&F panel, then reboot. Restart into safe mode, run the avast! all clear tool, reboot. Then and only then should you install F Secure................Remember, curiosity killed the cat!:)
