Factory Image D Drive Recovery

Recently a friend of mine mistakenly formatted his both drives ( C: OS & D: factory Image). There was no backup for the factory image. I was able install a new OS for him. Then I tried recovering the factory image from the D drive, which I succeed in doing.
The problem now is that the recovered Image could not load anymore. My plan was to use it to restore his PC to factory state.
Is it possible to use the recovered image just like that or do I need to do something to it first.
I tried burning it to DVD but the file is too large. I could not split it into different DVDs without knowing if it will work after splitting.
Please advice on what to do to make it work again.

The factory image is an inferior install compared to doing a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Most tech enthusiasts would never run it.

But if you want you can set up a Dual Boot to Boot Recovery Partition using EasyBCD

One of the guys who hangs out here a lot (SIW2) recommends One Key Recovery - Create a Factory Restore Partition with AOMEI OneKey Recovery to create a new Recovery partition.

I prefer doing Image Backup to an external hard drive or a Clean Install using a iso legally downloaded from heidoc.net: Windows 7 Direct Download Links
