i was restoring my computer to factory default. i hit f12 when the acer logo came up in start up, it took me to the a blue menu that had a few options on it. i clicked the P1-HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH41N option and it brought me to the sysrem recovery manger window. i clicked restore to factory default. i put in the first recovery cd, and it started. but in the middle of the recovery around 50% (after i switched to disc 2), or if i leave it for a few minutes. ill come back and the screen will be black, as if the monitor went to sleep mode. but even if i jiggle the mouse or turn it off and on, it will stay black. so i restarted the computer, but it wont go past the acer logo it will always give me a message saying bootmgr missing. if anyone could help me that would be fantastic!

Hello slothking and welcome to Seven Forums.

Barring a hardware problem (like a failing hard drive or graphics card) it's possible that the second recovery disk became damaged or corrupt and can't complete the factory restore. I'm not familiar with how Acer disks work. But my recovery disks for my Sony Vaio and Lenovo Thinkpad don't let the screen go black. The screens constantly show the restore progress. I think I'd consider doing a clean install following the tutorial prepared by one of the Forum experts.
