Solved Factory Restore Windows 7 on HP Laptop.

Hello everyone. I was wondering if someone would be able to help me with this situation. I've been thinking about doing Factory Restore on my HP G62 laptop.

I'm always thinking that there's some sort of spyware or files on here that are monitoring me that I can't find or my Anti-Virus can't find. I look through my files and there's so many strange folders and files that I either don't find anything in or they have no purpose. I don't know how half of them got on there and I don't want to end up deleting something that would mess up my computer.

Yes, I do have an Anti-Virus. In my opinion, it's the best AV that I ever had: Trend Micro Titanium. It blocks almost everything that attempts to get on my computer and blocks websites that aren't trustworthy or are malicious. But I'm still afraid that there's stuff on here from anything that I've downloaded.

My biggest concern is that I would loose my AV and Microsoft Office 2010. I have one access key for my Office but prefer not to use it unless I get a virus that wipes everything off or whatever. I also have MyItLab installed on my computer for my CIS class at my college.

So, would it be possible to do factory or some kind of restore that would not remove my AV/Office/MyItLab? Or can I wipe out my history on my AV since there's so hundreds of threats on it? Any help is appreciated.

A factory restore will wipe your hard drive and recover your computer to its factory state so yes, you will need to reinstall your applications.

If you're concerned about a virus infection, have you used Trend to carry out a full scan?

You could try Malwarebytes to sniff out any bad stuff - it comes highly recommended by everyone who uses it.

Lastly, have you created a set of recovery discs yet? You need to, because if your recovery partition gets corrupted you'll have no way of recovering your system in the event of problems.
