Gooday all. I found an old ISO for a copy of win8 for trial/developers. Decided I would give a run on a second drive on my computer. After some stuffing around I got it installed and started poking around having a look at win 8. Then a pop up advised me that the trial period had finished and that my computer would restart after 2 hours and info would be lost. I wasn't overly concerned , I had had a look around so I re formatted the HD back to Ext3 and put another linux distro on it. When I went to sign back into my win7 instalation I found a light blue screen, not bsod, advising that my win7 was broken nand it gave the error code 0xc0000225. I googled that and found a number of entries but none like mine. I have been unable to resolve this so any help would be appreciated.
What I have tried.
1 Using Grub disc to fix MBR of win7 hd. Grub claimed to have succeeded but same issue when I went back.
2. I had created a system rescue disc in July this year. I ran that but it ran out of options.
3 I got my win7 disc and ran that got to page where it gives the repair options. I tried Fixing boot, restore point and what ever the 3rd option is there.
All of this to no avail.
I loaded a Knoppix live CD and was able to transfer all the important stuff to a separate 2TB hard drive.
My inclination at this stage is to just format the disc and do a clean install, however if someone can guide me in a better direction I am happy to be advised.
I am writing this from the same machine just on another drive(Linux).

Gooday Gregrocker and thank you for helping me again. My win 7 install and my linux distro are on separate drives. I should have said that in my first post. I formatted the drive that linux was on and trialled the win 8 ISO on that drive. My thinking being that worst case scenario at least my win 7 on a separate drive would be ok. I have reinstalled The Full Monty version of PCLOS on that drive again. Grub is on that drive,so do I still need to uninstall it and if so ,how? I am using my lappy to run the rest of your fixes on my win7 machine.

Always unplug all other HD's when doing an install or repair then afterwards boot your choice via the BIOS.

As long as you didn't install GRUB or anything else on the Win7 HD, then unplug all other HD's and peripherals, make sure the Win7 partition or it's 100 mb System Reserved partition (preferred if you have it) is Partition Marked Active (Option 3) and run Startup Repair - Run up to 3 Separate Times until Win7 starts.

When you plug back in the other HD make sure Win7 stays set first HD to boot in BIOS setup, then wipe the other HDD of all code using Diskpart Clean Command so it can't interfere, format it for data and in the future only install any OS with all other HD's unplugged.

Gooday again Gregrocker. I followed your instructions but was unsuccessful. I have reinstalled win7. Just need to hunt down sound drivers. I will post this in the driver forum. Thanks again.

You're most welcome.

Try to stick as closely as possible to the steps to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. You'll get and keep a perfect install as long as you hew to those tools and methods.

Enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) then run all rounds of Important and Optional Windows Updates with requested reboots, until there are no more offered when you Check for Updates.

Then any missing drivers in Device Manager can be imported from the Support Downloads webpage for your model PC.
