Guys I need your help please. The disk two for fallout 3 is taking very long to load! I tried opening the installer manually and its still taking a long time. I just get the loading cursor over the my computers window when I try to open it and I cant close it. Do I have a faulty disk? Is this suppose to happen? I am so confused right now.

P.S I just discovered that auto run isnt showing up

IDK if my specs will help but i have a GT220 with a Intel Q8300 for a processor.

Yeah, I had the same problem as as you and was just about to make call tech support when the installation went finally through. I have no ideal why it takes that long. This might be something Bethesda needs to look into.

In case anybody is wondering, disk 2 is the DLC content. You put the disk in and it's supposed to load the DLC content, problem is is it just sits there for a long time. You have no idea if the program crashed or what, and there's nothing on the screen or anywhere to indicate what's happening. If you click out of it and try again after waiting awhile you get a message saying the program is already running...and you wait... and wait... and nothing happens...then all of a sudden it's done loading the content. We're talking like 3-5 minutes wait time!

Yeah, after 3 tries I was ready to call Bethesda and ask WTF when the program finally went through. Hmmm....

When I used to have disc problems I'd rip it with Alcohol 120% and load with daemon tools. Infact I have thps4 discs that are scratched.... I just have one on the hdd now lol. I can't get my alice discs to work though =( such a good game.

I hear what you're saying, but we shuoldn't have to use any "tools" to get a newly bought game's disk's content to install.

I've also had this problem. I had to extract the files and run the installer manually.

Hmmm...really sounds like Bethesda needs to look into this. I wonder if it's been addressed on their website.

I'm betting it's a disc problem, probably a batch of bad copies that didn't get flagged or something. Many things could cause this, or they ****ed up when they had the cd/dvd stuff pressed.

Yeah I'm thinking you're rigth about the bad batch of discs. I'll have to take a look at some of the Fallout forums to see if there's any mention of this issue.

Yeah remember the PS2 problem and gold covered discs? Oh man that almost started riots! lol naw but stuff happens, and we can't do jack. That's why I like to rip to hdd, better install times and if I choose to re-install the os (for whatever reason) my favorite games install fast. =P It doesn't bother me at all. I even have a backup of my steam folder. =) I don't like to wait for downloads.

Just read this on Bethesda's fourm - Game of the Year Edition - Bethesda Game Studios Forums

Some folks are reporting issues with installing the extra content on the second disk. Probably has to do with AV or some other background app or a combo of things. If you are having issues with the disk not being read or seen, you can try just letting it sit for about 10 to 15 minutes and the disk will usually start up the install.

However, the quickest way in the long run to get the content installed is to use Safe Mode for the install of the second disk.

Oooooo Kay

thanks

thankyou wishmaster, its not a disk problem its an operating system problem.
and after (SOO LONG) it installs it and the pit and all them still wont work anyway, radio signals wont show up, at the end of the game u dont get woken up and do anchorage or watever its called, cant even go to the pit.
now i had the dlc working on vista the went to 32 bit windows seven and they suddenly stopped working and its because of games for windows live (u should all no fallout uses GFWL right?) fallout uses GFWL to acces the dlc content and merge it with the origenal game, but with windows 7 it wont do that properly for some reason but when i find a fix ill post it.
unless someone els does.

If you're having issues with the DLC content showing up, try this....

Put the disc in the CD/DVD rom and and click "Run Falloutlauncher.exe"

The Launcher Screen will apear

Click "Data Files"

and you'll get this screen

Now make sure all the boxes are checked and your DLC content should be present in the game.

Also, make sure you're logged into GFWL to get the 1.7 patch update.

Let me know if this helped.
