Fallout 3 + Vista save games=fail?

I installed fallout 3 on 7000 and copied my save games from Vista to 7 and whenever I try to load a save game, it hangs. Anyone had any luck transfering save games?


I also can't patch the blo*dy thing either. "file not found error". It found the file and patched it in Vista

I used FO3 on Win7 build 6956 and my saves from WinXP worked fine, never tried the patch though since I don't use GFWL. Later today when I get build 7000 setup I'll test it again and let you know how it goes.

Cheers. I think it may be a GFWL thing, because in Vista I'm signed in but not in 7.

I installed Fallout 3 and loaded a game fine last night. Today however I can't even load Fallout 3. When i click on fallout3.exe it crashes. I reinstalled the game but it still isn't working.

Did you use a patch from Orbit by any chance to remove watermarks or send feedback, if so do a system restore to take it back to when it was working and even if you didn't install the patch a system restore would be worth a try anyway.

No mate, I haven't used any removal patches. It's still all untouched. I'll keep working at it when i stop playing in Vista. It's pretty much the only thing stopping me from using 7 full time at the moment

And no to the DX and I've got an ATI card.

I'm going to try starting a new game to see if loads, but I'm 30+ hours in and restarting is not an option

Nope haven't installed it as of yet.

I've now got the same problem as rsc, the game won't even load now :huh:

Just an update: I followed Mr GRiMs advice and did a system restore and it worked. Thanks
