Favicons gone in FF 52.9ESR

I had been using FF 52.9ESR till 6 months ago, when I copied the contents of my profile into Waterfox Classic and switched. I keep FF as my secondary browser, and keep places.sqlite updated.

I rely on favicons to get me more quickly through my 1800 bookmarks in 52 folders and who-knows how many subfolders. I recently copied my favicons.sqlite back to my FF profile, but nothing shows in the bookmarks. They've all gone back to default until I visit that particular page.

I had no problem with this when I left FF, and I've changed nothing in my profile except places.sqlite.

Firefox as of I don't know when got rid of favicons in typical Chrome copy fashion. If Firefox ESR uses the XUL extension code, then I can give you the FavIconReloader extension. If ESR uses BS Webextension code, then look at the Firefox add-ons website for that extension.

There's no webextension add-on for FavIconReloader.

It's still using XUL, which is why I'm using it, with ca-archive. Favicon reloader doesn't work. But because FF has now become my secondary browser, I'm not overly upset over this.

Not only that, when I close FF, any favicons I gained by opening sites, disappear before the next use. I asked here because I'm not getting support for this version anymore.

I think it's time to play with about:config.
