File Open and File Save As dialog boxes do not show all files and folders known to be present, i.e., that show in Windows Explorer.

- This happens in all programs.
- It is not that the files are hidden or system files.
- It is not that the dialog is only showing files of a certain type.

It gets partway through the list of files and folders and stops. If I type in a sub-folder it will go to that folder, and then when I go back all the files will be shown. It is like it had to "reset" or "rescan" the file structure or something.

I only noticed this problem over the past few weeks. Don't know what might be different about my machine in that time.

I'd appreciate any suggestions.

Have you tested by showing hidden, folders and files in folder options ?
This is usually a sign of malware but many people seem to be having it,
The problem is not many of them add what security suites they have installed or any prior security suites ?
So the issue seems to be in limbo.

I have shown hidden files (as I said), scanned for malware and viruses, run cc cleaner for registry errors and scan disk for bad files. No joy.
