Files I cant find taking up space

Hey,
I have a 60gb SSD that is unsurprisingly always nearly used up, but I cant see what is using up most of this space. I have 3-4 applications that must be using up less than 10gbs altogether and all my mp3's and movies etc are stored on a seperate drive.
For example, my user folder shows up in properties as being 10.3gb in size, but the cumulative total of all the folders in my user folder comes to about 2gb. Wheres the 8.3gb gone?!

Am I missing something here? Is there a tool I can use to see what is using up so much space? Am I the tool (probably)?

Are you seeing hidden/system files?
If Windows Explorer is set to default, hidden/system files won't be visible.

The trash folder will be invisible.
The swap file will be invisible.
The hibernate file (if any) will be invisible.
The system restore folder will be invisible.

These things can use up lots of space, yet you wouldn't see them.
