So i have 3 files i cannot delete after uninstalling a game. I also cannot rename the folder they are in without windows explorer not responding and i have to restart explorer.

I did take ownership method but that froze up to. I went into safe mode, and tried it that way - also didn't delete, it equally froze up.

I have attached an image of the delete attempt - it just gets stuck like that.

I'm out of options - please advise on what i should do ?

Do you have a system image backup? If so - you can attempt to force delete the directory.

See this post.

But note that if using UVK then then it would be better to use the following command to delete the directory:

<sDelete>
F:\The Witcher 3

If using PowerTool x64 use the file tab to navigate to the directory and right click for delete options.

These tools can cause problems if the other available functions are used without knowing what they do or why you might need to use them so don't be tempted to fix anything else.

Okay just tried it, Powertools and UVK using the UI method and the <sDelete> method.

Both stop responding when i click delete on the directory. I literally don't know what else to do =/

Re: UVK script to delete. There is no directory to click on. You just run the script and if the directory cannot be deleted it will be deleted on boot.

Re: Powertools. It attempts brute force deletion and if it seems to stop responding just leave it for a few minutes and wait to see if it manages to delete.

The only other thing I can think of is booting using A Linux Live USB and deleting that way.

You got the 32bit version - right?

Powertool x86 v4.6

Here's another alternative that I've also used.

Download PC Hunter - MajorGeeks

It works the same way as Powertool. Navigate to the file or directory and delete it.

Re: All software mentioned.

You have admin rights and are right clicking each program's shortcut and choosing "Run as administrator" - correct?

Edit:

Also try using Unlocker and right click the files / directory and see if any process is reported as locking it. If this is the case report the process name and I might be able to write a script to delete the directory.

Ah it seems it was locked. Thats odd though, i have the "Take ownership" right click menu which didn't seem to unlock it, wonder why this program managed to unlock them =/
