4.0 is faster but if you use add-ons, most of them may not work with 4.0 yet. I continue to use 3.6.8 for this reason, which is not that slow after all.

Your older addons will work with FF4.0 if you disable the compatibility check

Type about:config in your browser address bar and agree to the warning message. Now right click inside the browser, choose New –> Boolean, type the preference name as extensions.checkCompatibility.4.0b and set it to False.

i saw very little difference in speed between the two products. Honestly, didn't care for the changes in the 4.0 UI in the earlier version that I ran, so I just went back to 3.6 for the time being.

I did a speedtest and firefox 4 worked out faster at 19.47mbps while firefox 3.6 was only 17.87.

Thats a considerable difference!

Thanks again yowanvista. Upgraded to IDM 5.19. Works fine with FF 4.0b beta.
