The copy of 3.6 I installed never had it to begin with. With the 4.0 upgrade install you now see the Bing option in the list. Guess which one is now 3rd in line?! Not Bing!

I have to agree! I saw another similar blog suggesting a 7.0 version by the end of the year. It sounded more like a gimic however just to say: "we're working fast on development of the next... blah blah blah".

That's quite alright. One other reason why I stayed with Opera or one of the other browsers ove FF was never having the option to add Bing as default but could only see a Google tool bar addon? Google or Yahoo as default?

It was never very inviting not having the same options or more even over IE. At least Opera offered Bing. I think Mozolla finally wised up a little!

FF big draw is the Add-ons. Still waiting on a bunch for FF 4.0 to be updated. If each of these FF version break a lot of Add-ons you can kiss FF good bye.

Firefox will be around long after the Chrome fad dies off. Mozilla, unlike Google does not track your every move on the Net. I am using the same extensions on 4.0 that I did on 3.6.

I wouldn't doubt Chrome will fall into obscurity at some point as well as the Google OS. When upgrading to 4.0 it will depend on what addons you are presently running on 3.6 or another previous version. Here 3 were not carried over to 4.0 as indicated by the installer.

It is a very easy process to make most addons compatible. The only extensions I really care about are Adblock Plus, Tab Mix Plus and Stylish. They all are compatible and with stylish one can make Firefox look and act the way the user wants it to. All of the Browsers out there are about equal in speed, so it all boils down to preference. I have been using Firefox since it was called Phoenix and I am just used to it. I currently use 17 extensions and I only had to force compatibility on one of them. 2 Pane Bookmarks.

I have been using Bing on FF for quite awhile. I am still using FF 3.6.16 with Bing. Just waiting for Norton to fix their Identity Safe toolbar (scheduled for May) then I will switch to FF 4.0

There's an option to add Bing onto the previous versions. I had Bing on at one time but never got to that for the last 3.6 install.

That was when Bing was still new when finding the option. Now that Bing has been around for a period of time Mozilla apparently decided to include it in the 4.0 release.

GTX11 does have a few things correct there about browsing speeds. Having had several browsers on at the same time while making some comparisons with under a dozen they were averaging about the same when seeing each load the same page.

As for preferences the list of them was narrowed down rather fast as to which ones would remain or be removed entirely. Chrome, Flock, bloodfire tossed. Opera, FF, Ice Weasel(couldn't find a Konqueror for Windows), and Netscape Navigator 9(last version) were to remain while the last two are still subject to removal at any time.

Note these were all compared several months ago along witn IE 8 well before the 9 beta was first seen. Unfortunately due to continual problems of one type seen at a site I frequent I may have roll back to IE 8 temporarily rather then the need to open a second browser's window.

Well I thought I had more than a few things correct. I do not use Google for anything nor Bing. I use IXquick for searching as it works without tracking my searches. One can use whatever search engine they want to. The choice is not Mozilla's but the end users.

I was simply mentioning the search providers FF comes with now seeing Bing included. The personal choice of which provider to use has always been upto the end user anyways even if you have to drag a bookmark onto the personal bar.

To clear the history in 4.0 you simply go the View item on the menu bar and click the show all history option to delete items in the popup that appears. It can become cluttersome over an extended period of time however if you forget to clean them out every so often.

Mozilla’s Robert Sayre published a draft of the new rapid release process for Firefox, Which the open source browser vendor wants to embark on after shipping version 4.0 next week.

Mozilla has yet to embrace a new development process for Firefox fully, and that changes to the current draft can still be introduced.

Christian Legnitto, Mozilla release manager has posted a new draft detailing the development specifics of future versions of Firefox.

According to the proposed development and release timetable, early adopters will be able to get the first taste of Firefox 6.0 and Firefox 7.0 quite soon.

The open source browser vendor has introduce a new repository namely Mozilla Aurora, in addition to Central, Beta and Release.

Does anyone know why Mozilla seems to have stopped supporting the 64 bit version of Minefield 4.2a1pre lately? No updates for several days now, but all other formats are receiving daily updates.

No idea, but it isn't the first time the the 64 bit Windows version has gone a few days without an update compared to the rest of the versions.

I really don't think we need 9 versions of firefox per year. At this rate we'll have firefox 13 on the nightly channel by this time next year, and firefox 22 by April 2013. Think of the poor website developers, especially ones who work at banks where EACH VERSION needs to be internally tested before it gets approved.

I really don't know what you are speaking of, but that is probably because I very rarely visit my GMail account, since my client accesses all of my mail for me.
