Hi, I've been having a problem with Firefox for several days now. It freezes up all the time. I downloaded waterfox and that does the same. Do I need to update something? I also use Opera (no problems with that) but Firefox has all my links and I don't know how to get them to use in another browser.

Thank you

To use your links in another browser, you need to save the links on your computer ,first.
This is how you do that : Open Mozila Firefoxand use this combination ctrl+shift+B to open your bookmarks.
Then click Import and Backup>Export bookmarks to HTML - this will let you save your bookmarks in HTML format.
Save the file on your desktop to find it easily.

Then open the browser ,that you want to use those links in, for example -Internet explorer.
Click File>import and export>import from a file>tick "favorites"... Then select the file that you have saved on the desktop and click- OK. The bookmarks will be added to Internet explorer and you'll be able to use them without even restarting the browser.
Good luck :)

I would backup my bookmarks, and then trying to refresh the browser via "about:support", see if that solves your problems. This would work for Waterfox too since, IIRC, it shares profiles with Firefox.

If tht doesn't do it for you, using the same page (about:support) use the safe mode and see if you have the same freezing problems. If you don't have freezing problems, one of your complements may be the culprit, If still have freezes, restart Firefox in normal mode and see if you have hardware acceleration enabled, like in here:

graphics-section1.png

You should have something very similar to this (the important parts are that the D2D engine in both fields say true, and that GPU accelerated windows says 1/1 Direct3D 1x, where the x can be 0 or 1)
If you happen to have the hardware acceleration disabled (falses and 0/1 on the last field), check your VGA drivers and update to latest if you can.

Hope this helps you :)

Thanks!

So IE is safe to use now? IF it is, I don't need to do any of this because I have all those links and know where they area. I just spent several days working to get a video card to work. I'd prefer to not have to go thru this stuff right now if I don't have to.

I don't have that "import and backup" Pic attached.

Yes, the lastest version of IE is pretty fast and safe. You can replace Mozila Firefox with it or just use any other brows weller such as Google Chrome that's well-known for its stability and performance.

LOL :) I did try the updated version, but it still freezes. I gave up and went back to IE.
