EDIT: I discovered that noscript was the cause for another problem on this forum. With it enabled, I was not able to access the dropdown menu on Quick Links, it simply added a couple of extra buttons on the UI, but none which would allow me to select to view my posts or threads that I had posted in.

Noscript is not a feature, it is a giant bug.

Indeed, it's mainly just a nuisance. No idea why so many people are enthusiastic about it. I suppose if people visit questionable sites then it might be worthwhile, but for normal browsing it is far more trouble than it's worth. I never did manage to get it configured sensibly, so I threw it away.

In order to get rid of it entirely, use CCleaner and check the box;

Also you can use Click&Clean add-on for Firefox, which helps you to clear your internet history and protect your privacy in one click, and also included e.g. the ability to run an external application (for example: BleachBit, Computer Janitor, CCleaner, WiseDiscCleaner, ...)

As much as I appreciate the suggestions made so far, I feel that I must refocus the thread on my original question...a means to use mouse flips in Firefox in the same fashion that they are in Opera. Not mouse gestures, nor special windows or dedicated mouse buttons, etc. just a simple mouse flip using only the left-right mouse buttons.

PS. There are other add ons which will also provide rocker navigation, but they also usually have a lot of other functions as well. The add on shown ONLY provides the rocker function.

I wanted a digital clock on the address bar, so I installed the Simple Timer + Clocks 1.3.2 add on. It does everything that I want, except that it won't retain my settings. Sometimes it totally disappears from the toolbar, and others it just goes back to it's default icon when FF is restarted, and I have to reset it each time from it's right click context menu. I have played with it quite a bit, and I don't think that there is a solution for this, so I'm wondering if there is some other add on that will work properly in this fashion?

I noticed. I'm not sure that any trick would do the job, because the latest version was dated in 2005 for a very early version of Firefox, and Firefox automatically blocked it's installation.

No thanks, I don't much care for forcing anything. I will either find a clock that is designed for 4, or I will keep what I have.

Anyway, I have played around with "Simple Timer + Clocks" quite a bit, and it works perfectly for me. Restarting Firefox or the Computer makes no difference, it just works. So maybe you have some setting wrong or something like that?

Right again. I had assumed that it would just retain my last setting, but rechecking the options, there are several startup configurations to choose from. I choose the clock startup, and now it is ticking along as expected. Thanks.

This is not exactly a customization question, more like how do I get FF to behave? Regardless of what I try...clicking on the main title bar, dragging the window to the top of the monitor screen, using the Restore Down/Maximize button, stretching the lower edge of FF with a click/drag of the mouse, it insists on keeping ~ 1/4" gap between it and the Taskbar, as can be seen in the screenshot. How do I get it to close that gap?

You can ignore my last question. After posting, I realized that the problem was with all windows, not just FF, so a reboot fixed it. Still, the screenshot sets the stage for my next question...While I would prefer that the Speed Dial become like a wallpaper, like in Opera, I noticed that since I installed an add on that allows me to close all tabs, that FF displays a gray window when that is done. I thought that it would be nice to use exactly the same wallpaper as I do on the desktop, so that it gives the appearance that FF is rolled up into a single line, consisting of the Tab Bar.

I do not want to change the entire theme of the browser, which is all that I found from a quick look at the add ons, but Googling, I found websites offering FF wallpaper, which led me to think that I could use it in just the browser, rather than the desktop...can I get rid of that gray background or not?

When right clicking the grey background, and select "View Page Info" and "View Source", the dialogs presented some curious information. I have attached screenshots, which indicate that the gray screen has something to do with Opera, which I don't understand, because Opera doesn't use that, and unless the add on caused it, I see no relationship.

Regardless of the source, it appears that it might be possible to use something besides the grey, but I'm not sure how?

The addon "Classic Opera" uses its own CSS. With a blank grey background in the standard Firefox you get this;



You can alter the background to suit your taste but I don't use any "eye-candy" at all, just the basic standard Firefox setup, so I am not the best person to ask.

Hmm, unless I missed something, that only adds a background to a new tab, not the bare background. Actually, that is one of the reasons that I installed the Classic Opera add on, to be able to get rid of the automatic new tab.
