I have only just installed Firefox 3.5.1 (to see if i like it better then Maxthon) i find one thing not that happy with - to open a new link in a new tab i have to (press Ctrl/click the link or middle click on my mouse (Razer Death Adder), so i tried search at the plugins for Firefox site but cant find a plugin that will let me just click a link and have it open a new page in a new tab, is there one please ? any advice appreciated :)

Hi, I guess the build on addons is older. You can get the latest build from the developer

Tab Mix Plus Dev-Build 0.3.7.4pre-Tab Mix Plus

The direct path to the file is here:

Tab Mix Plus Dev-Build 0.3.7.4pre.090516

Alternatively, you can change the max version nunber in the install.rdf, which you'll find in the .xpi file.

You can use any extractor (7-zip, Winzip, winrar) to open an xpi. the double click the install.rdf, open it with a text editor and look for :

em:maxVersion

Change the value to something like 3.5.2

Anothet option is to use the Nightly Tester Tools :: Add-ons for Firefox or MR Tech Toolkit :: Add-ons for Firefox

These will both let you override the max version number, so older addons can work with new builds of fx

I dont understand why do you need to do a ctrl+click to open a link in a new tab.
For example: If i want to open www.sevenforums.com in a new tab, all i do i just right click on it and click Open i a new tab and it opens right away without pressing the Ctrl key.

Cindy - you'll need the 3.7.4pre release that you can download from the forums - the 'stable' release is only for Fx 3.0.x

Also, you *can* set the options to open links in a new tab in TM+ - I prefer to middle clicking (MX Revolution, using the search button re-bound as my middle click) but it is easy enough to do so in TM+.

@Everyone else - the point she is making is that in Maxthon you can make regular clicks open in a new tab - right clicking and then selecting an option is not what she is looking for anymore than middle clicking.

Not a solution, but another way to do things. Don't forget you can drag-and-drop just about any link or image on a web page or from Bookmarks to the tab bar, and it will open in a new tab.

You only need to click mouse wheel to open link in new tab.

If you want to disable Compatibility check for addons without installing nightly testing tools just follow these simple steps:

1. Open Firefox and type in the addressbar about:config and you will see the below screenshot. Click the button “I’ll be careful, I promise” to proceed.

2. Now you will see the Firefox config page. Right-Click on a blank area of the page and select “New” in the menu and select “Boolean” type the preference name as “extensions.checkCompatibility” and click ok.
3. Another screen will popup with a select option of “True” or “False”, Select “False” in this screen.

Restart Firefox

You can now install and use addons not yet approved/updated for newest Firefox

another tip:
While you are on the about:config page you may also want to find the entry for "GIO" and set to "false" if you don't want to be tracked by anyone using new locator system

just download google chrome, it will solve all your problem.

each have there own advantages, but please let's not turn this into a Firefox vs Chrome thread. There are plenty of trolls that have already done that
