folder.jpg not working (7077)

Anyone else running x64 7077 able to use folder.jpg's properly? Worked fine in 7000 but now all of my folders display multiple thumbnails instead of the folder.jpg. Tried deleting thumbs.db, and duplicated issue in another user account.

To clarify about folder.jpg: in previous versions of Windows (XP, Vista, 7 build 7000) when an image file called folder.jpg is placed in a folder, it automatically becomes the default folder picture/thumbnail for that folder (without needing to specify it manually via the Customization screen).

What's happening for me now though is instead of seeing the folder.jpg image as the folder's thumbnail picture, I see the live contents thumbnails instead (the same as if there were no folder.jpg in the folder).

I'm not really looking for a solution at this point, but confirmation from others whether or not the function works.

If someone who has 7077 and can confirm that folder.jpg works properly (ie shows as the folder thumbnail for a folder that contains two or more image files), please chime in as that will help me decide whether I should reinstall or wait out the next build. Thanks in advance.

not practical when you have over 6000 folders tagged with folder.jpg's. as touched on in my previous post, folder.jpg is supposed to be used for creating a cover thumbnail for a folder *without* needing to go to the folder's customize tab. this functionality has been present since WindowsXP and worked correctly in 7 build 7000.

to reiterate: if you use 7077 please respond yes or no if folder.jpg works correctly for you. i'm just looking to see if it's the build's issue or my install.

This has been a problem with every build post 7022. Some have speculated that it is not a bug, but I believe that it clearly is a bug. I just hope someone inside Microsoft noticed before they built the RC.

As a workaround a Desktop.ini containing the following code should display the folder.jpg in the folder as the logo for the folder

This appears to be what has been removed

and you know this how? (because MS is flawless right?). why break such a long standing and ubiquitous feature? it doesn't make any sense.

How do you know? Please tell us. If this is true I suppose many people will have to settle for Beta 1. I'm not going to fix 20 000+ folders manually every time I reinstall my Windows. I suspect many others will be pissed too. Larger thumbnails was one of the most noticeable new features of Win7 compared to XP and now its totally ruined. I can't believe this is happening...

Well I made a desktop.ini file, copy pasted that text in there, saved, applied system+hidden attributes, copied the file in and it had no effect. So my question remains.

I don't have the 'build' you're talking about, but possibly a Vista script would work for you? See if it does...

What do you mean might need fixing? The jpg file association? Ini file? Folder? I don't see how this could be related to any of that.
