Hey everyone,

Im having a problem with my fonts, i was installing around 10,000 new fonts directly into the font directory. everything was going fine and the fonts finished installing, however the top progress bar stayed on, but didnt move for about 10 minutes, so i force closed the window.

after restarting the computer, my fonts folder says 0 items, and there is NOTHING in the list. If i go into any program, it says my fonts are hidden, however i have found no way to unhide them. I have checked the font settings and removed the hidden options but still nothing.

The font folder size is around 450 MB, so i know the fonts are in there, they just dont show up.

Anyone know how to fix this? or at the very least get it back to system default, as this would probably be the best idea.

I tried searching around for a solution, but couldnt find anything.

Thanks

not sure what went wrong exactly but you should do a system restore to before you installed the new fonts. that should get you back to where you started

Hi Rob,

On a clean install of windows 7 x64, I have a font folder with a size of 351MB, so with your size of 450MB, I doubt that 10,000 fonts have been added as then it would have been more likely around the 750MB+ mark.

I suggest that you use a font management program...and one of the best is "MainType" (works great for me in windows 7) and I only have the core windows and web fonts installed. The rest are in a "My Fonts" folder on a separate partition. Ready to be "loaded" when needed only.

Having 10,000 + fonts in your system fonts folder will REALLY slow down your PC startup and make all of your font utilizing programs (word, photoshop or whatever) really sluggish as it loads all these fonts.

Hope that helps!
