Solved For $1.3k, is this a good gaming rig? Will it actually work?

I'm very stupid when it comes to building a computer, but I've seen a few videos and researched it a bit. I built a rig using my budget (1.3-1.4k) using pcpartpicker and microcenter, and I'm wondering if it's a strong build for gaming (and if it'll even work ).

Looking over everything and yes it looks to be a strong build. I'll have another longer look at things like the case and PSU but it will game very well !

It looks good to me other than I would get at least a 700 Watt PS and Windows 7 Pro.

OK if it was me I would look for these upgrades:
PSU with 750 watt and full modular-Smart for additions and upgrades now and down the road!
Sealed water cooling like a H80i-Huge additional cooling capacity!
Add a 120gb or larger SSD and place OS and software only on it-Huge!
Switch brand of monitor from Acer to Samsung or LG or ASUS, minor point
Case is all subjective, I've built with Corsair, Thermaltake, Coolermaster and NZXT and they all rocked.

Thanks! I'll pick up the SSD later once I get some more money. Also, when getting a PSU, should it be modular?

Also, is 4 grams enough thermal compound?

Actually if you use the H80i or any other sealed water cooler which I recommend with every fiber of my being it will already be applied to the plate of the pump. Also I can't stress enough that discounts have SSD in 128gb under $100.00 and I grabbed a 120 gb for $49.00 just do it it will make all the difference in the world and a clean install is easier than an image later!

I'd disagree a little with Gary here. If you want to save some money definitely go for a high quality PSU but with the right case you don't really need a modular PSU IMO (they cost more) and you can make your cable layout quite neat..
I'd look seriously at the Dell U2312HM IPS monitor. I have the non Led U2311 IPS and it is terrific for photo work. Dell do do deals if you are a member of some auto club or something.

Modulars are great, but not imperative. Especially if you have a non-windowed case. But if you're budget allows it and a SSD, then stay modular.

But honestly, make sure you grab a SSD.

I think splitting the difference is "THE" choice and that's semi modular. I wish all PSU's were lay'd out that way.
