Hey,

I changed my password on windows 7 about a month ago then went on holidays and haven't used it for this whole month. I went to go on yesterday and found I had forgotten my password. I have tried everything I could think of then turned to programs that claimed that they could find my password, these failed. I attempted using command prompt via the Windows 7 repair disk, this only gave me error messages. I may be doing things incorrectly but, as I have read instructions over and over and tried and re-tried methods, I find this unlikely. I have also tried calling Microsoft support but they tell me that they don't deal with such problems and as my computer is custom built i can't use the normal path of solving problems such as these, calling the maker.

Any ideas that you can think of would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

Why not try Safe Mode and log in as Administrator and try to change your normal password. I do not know if it will work, but give a go.

That was one of the first suggestions i got given, but when i launch safe mode it goes to the normal login screen and I am still the only user. I think I maybe both the user and the admin.

(to valtonray)

i have looked at the link you gave me, it looked like it should work. BUT i had trouble with cmd prompt saying it didn't recognise "magnify.exe" so the next step didn't work.
Any ideas on what the problem might be?
thanks
