Format accident on encrypted volume

I've got an encrypted by truecrypt 1G WD elements SE volume.
Before accident, every time when I plugged this volume into my notebook, my system (windows 7 64) showed me a popup massage "You need to format the disc in drive I: before you can use it".
I didin't turn off it (I haven't known how), of course everything worked fine then,

but one day, accidentally I triggered it, and then,system instantly showed me
"the disk I: has been formated correctly" I didn't believe that disk was formated,
I opened truecrypt, I entered password, I tried to mount a disc, but a disk was completely empty. For 5 minutes I hadn't believed that disc was formated that fast.

There is any chanse to restore files on a disc?
I'm starting to believe that this is a permament erase

I guess, It's imposible to erase 10GB of files in such short time,
I think only a main entries to the encrypted volume have been deleted, but files are still, somewhere.

There are two types of formating Quick and Normal. Quick basically deletes your root directory but doesn't delete the data files. There are services and utilities available to try and recover your data but there are no guarantees.

I don't think any undelete utility will work and the fact that this is an encrypted drive will further complicate things.

A quick google search shows a number of utilities that say they can recover data after an accidental format but I've not used one myself.

You can try to recover your files using a program

I normally use Recuva - Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery - Free Download

However recovering all 10GB of your data is very Slim

Also the added effect of encryption is used to minimise recovery of deleted data and to prevent unauthorised access so this maybe a hit and miss

Of course you have a backup of your data?

Aside, something tells me that your out of luck with recovering your data unless you have a backup.

If, by any chnace, you have recovery points (shadows) on the HDD, you can recover the data with Shadow Explorer
