Hey guys,

I'm looking to format my hard-drive and re-install windows 7. I have the windows 7 discs, but I have recovery disks that i hear alot of people talk about? My PC was custom built, so i dont have any manufacturer hidden recovery (like HP, Dell etc)

I'm assuming you cant just re-install windows by putting the disks in and wipes the HD as you do it?

I'm a bit of a newbie sorry!

Thanks,

Jay

Hi Jay,

Please let us know how did you make these recovery discs for the system. If you have taken a system image backup on the disc when you made the system first then it should work fine.

If the disk is fine boot the system to one time boot menu by pressing F12 key in most systems. Boot the system though CD drive and follow onscreen instructions to complete restoring the system.

Also, I understand you are aware doing the restore would delete everything stored on the system.

Check this link as well which might be of help to you:

Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.
