Solved Four BSOD and System Crashes in Aug 2017

I posted in May 2017 regarding four BSOD's or system crashes that occurred April/May 2017. Due to my use of CCleaner, the minidump files were deleted. I have stopped using CCLeaner and Auslogics Registry Cleaner. Four more system crashes have occurred from 08/16/17 to 08/25/17. The mnidump files were saved and included in the attached ALAN-PC zip file.

The most recent four events occurred with various software running, i.e. Firefox, Excel, Word, Abode Reader, and BitDefender. One occurred during startup.

I have run HeavyLoad to determine if the crashes were temperature related. I had issues with the trial version of HWMonitor. The processor package temps were not recording. The temp log is not available but I observed a package temp of 91C and an Intel integrated graphics card temp of 85C after four minutes and stopped the test. I will run again if requested.

I also ran memtest86 and memtest86+. Memtest86 ran for more than 18 hours before I stopped the test. More than 6800 errors were found. The number of passes were more than 1500. I assume the software has no user definable number of passes. After running one pass of memtest86+ no errors were found.

I request help to determine what may be causing these crashes. I do not have additional information at this time.

Run at least 8 completed passes with memtest86+ to get conclusive results.

Memtest86+ has completed 10 passes and found 1113 errors. Is this the cause of the crashes? Or is the RAM damage caused by an another issue?

Thought this info may be useful

• The four events occurring in May 2017 were BSOD's, and the four events occurring in August were not BSOD's.
• As of today another issue has started. When typing text into an e-mail or this post the text box goes black. The box will will repaint slowly if I place the cursor over the box and click.

I am reading how to read and interpret minidump files. I need more experience before I am competent enough to diagnose this issue.

Your BSOD's are likely to be caused from the bad RAM / or bad RAM slots on the motherboard - you need to isolate that.

Remove all but one of the RAM DiMM's. Now repeat the 8 passes of MemTest86+ for each RAM DiMM, one at a time until you find the offending DiMM/s.

Four system crashes in August 2017.

I completed the memtest86+ testing of two G.Skill F3-1066CL9D-16GBSQ DIMM's. The two DIMM's are 8GB each and sold in a pair as 16GB. The DIMM located at slot 1 had 116 errors after eight passes. The DIMM located at slot 3 had no errors after eight passes. Enclosed are two JPEG's of the memtest86+ scans. Both DIMM's were tested in slot 1.

Will the one damaged DIMM need to replaced with the exact same G.Skill RAM? The DIMM's were manufactured in December 2015. Not two years old and failing. Looking for a more reliable manufacturer.

Thanks AXE0. Will replacing the RAM prevent further crashes? Or will I need to wait a period of time without another crash to be reasonably sure no other issues exist.

Wait a period of time, there is no other way to know 100% sure if the new RAM kit isn't bad besides testing.

Four system crashes in August

I am closing this thread since the time to replace the RAM may be two weeks. Then will run laptop for awhile to see if problem returns. Thanks AXE0.
