What about free versions of Aomei or EaseUS or Paragon or Acronis. Problem is, I don't have any experience with them.

The mSATA isn't much use at all in this system.

Got to get the C from it onto the WD somehow, presumably by imaging.

But I guess get rid of Dynamic before trying to image anything?

Not sure if PW is OK with mSATA?

I got AOMEI partition assitant already installed .. I guess I tried to do this last year ...
And I think I didn't proceed because there were two disks, and it wasn't possible somehow or I hadn't an idea how to do it ...


I got rid of dynamic on the D - can you check the disk manager screenshot and see if everything is okay before proceeding with the C ? that failed in the picture I don't understand it ...

Indeed, and according to Samsung the SSD should have been used as a cache not as Windows installation.

Well, this is interesting, what you think of (since WD is basic now): Hopefully the failed dynamic drive entries in Disk Management will vanish after a restart. There is a risk of losing data/system.
- Free space on D as much as you can, make a large enough unallocated space between System Reserved and D (by resizing D with PW free).
- Convert C to basic too, and clone it to the unallocated space with Macrium.
- Use EasyBCD to point to the new Windows partition. or perhaps remove the SSD and run startup repair 3 times (if possible)

Aomei Backupper free seems to support dynamic disks (Backup Dynamic System Volume on Dynamic Disk With Free Softw)

I would certainly back up any data on disk 0 before proceeding further.

Yeah, you should be able to make a partition of say 60 or 100 on the WD by taking space from D, using PW or probably Aomei.

Do the dynamic to basic conversion tools have any problems with mSATA?

Don't know about "cloning" the mSATA C to the WD. Would that overwrite all partitions on the WD? Maybe transfer C to the WD by imaging rather than cloning?

You could certainly copy the boot files from System Reserved to C after other operations are finished, using EasyBCD. Can we assume the existing System Reserved was not damaged by the dynamic to basic conversion on the WD?

Maybe copy the boot files from System Reserved to C right away, before attempting the clone or image to the WD, to confirm that the Samsung would boot on its own?

I'm just brainstorming myself. This is uncharted territory for me, which is why I say to backup whatever is critical to you on the WD.

Macrium can clone single partitions. But safe than sorry, right?
System Reserved can stay where it is, I was thinking of adding a new entry for the new partition. And later delete the original one if new entry works.

Ok,

I restarted couple times, the failed message on the disk management still exists (even if the disks work perfectly for me and I can access data etc).

I did scan disk for both C and D ..
restarted, the message still exists - so same screenshot for the disk management ..

Should I proceed anyway with the Dynamic to Basic for the C drive ?

Maniac, lets start by:

- Delete all unnecessary files on D and S
- Backup the remaining to your external

What a mess.

If I had to fix that computer I would backup any wanted data to a external storage and do a clean install with only 1 drive hook to sata zero (0).
Then do a Clean Install using Brinks tutorial.

Now stay the hell away from dynamic disk. If later it's needed we can do that much later.

You always want your Reserve and "C" partition on the same drive.
The Reserve partition should not have a partition letter.

You will end up with a simple, clean install of Windows 7 like this one looks. You will not need any 3rd part programs to do this.
