For the last few days while watching a stream, netflix on chrome, or playing not so high end games, about every hour my computer will freeze and then stutter occasionally. CTRL ALT DEL does nothing and after a few minitues the computer will BSOD then restart itself and one time spewed an error message about memory. But the odd thing is that I happened to be on skype and for most of the duration of the freeze, I was still able to talk to my brother. My CPU and GPU seem to be operating normally. The windows memory diagnostic showed nothing. It may have crashed during a memtest, I uploaded the results from the SF Diagnostic.

specs:
CPU: Intel Core i5-2500
Motherboard: Gigabyte Z68M-D2H
GPU: NVidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti
Memory: 4Gx2|GSKILL F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL
Storage: SSD 64G|CRUCIAL CT064M4SSD2 R
PSU: OCZ|OCZ700MXSP 700W RT
OS: Windows 7 64bit

Thank you for any help you might have!

The issue is sleep/hibernation related. As yours a desktop computer, hibernation is not anything needed there, specially when you have a very limited 11 GB free space only in your C drive.

Disable hibernate following the instruction : http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/819-hibernate-enable-disable.html

Get rid of intel rapid storage. First uninstall it from Control Panel > Programs and Features. Then Uninstall the driver from device manager.

  1. Right click on "my computer" icon and click "manage" on the context menu.
  2. It will open the "computer management" window.
  3. Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, It will list all the existing devices up.
  4. Expand "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
  5. Select one Intel device item under it, right click, uninstall.
  6. Continue the process for all Intel items under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"
  7. Now restart the computer. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate native system driver.
Make it sure that your Crucial M4-CT064M4SSD2 is running with the latest firmware.

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.

  1. Click on the Start button
  2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
  3. Select the “Startup” tab.
  4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
  5. Apply > OK
  6. Accept then restart.
Let us know the results.
