I didn't find anything on the above problem by searching the forums, but as a constant WSR user (translator), I experience this every day: e.g., today I had been dictating into Word 2007 for over an hour. I activated WSR corrections, and suddenly realized the pc had gone zombie on me. Other times, I can simply be dictating when this freezing occurs.

Googling outside the forums turned up some hits indicating possible memory leaks connected with Vista, as well as a Hot Fix for this, but as I have Win 7, that fix is not available. Other hits stated this problem had mainly to do with Win 7 64-bit.

Are others on these forums experiencing freezing while using WSR? Any ideas or pointers?

I have no way to know whether memory leaks are involved. How can I find out?

I can't find an audio driver specific to Windows 7, but here's one for Vista: Lenovo Support & downloads - ADI SoundMAX High Definition audio driver for Windows Vista - ThinkCentre M55, M55p

Try installing that and see if the problem goes away.

Thanks for pointing this driver out to me. As luck would have it, my HD crashed just after I installed it, so it's taken me a long time to get Win 7 reinstalled and "re-drivered". DriverEasy certainly helped there.

Since the only difference in drivers is the ADI SoundMax one, and my PC has stopped BSOD-ing, your suggestion did they trick.

Hope I can return the favor someday.

Daniel
