Win 7 pro System w/
(2) 256 GB Samsung Pro SSDs
(2) 2 TB Seagate SHDs, the 2nd one was a backup mirror and we don't use it anymore, just been too lazy to take it out
Had an unusual experience this morning ... Logged in and went to check e-mail and it couldn't find my profile .... OK, system hadn't been rebooted in a while so let me reboot. On reboot, it wanted to do a chkdsk on R:\ (the good SSHD)... got thru all 3 runs OK but than saw a message not seen before which is the thread title. Nite that R:\ is the 2nd of 4 partitions on the SSD which is used as a network data server with users access limited by partition (Q / R / S / T).
Rebooted and neither of the SSHDs were showing in Disk Manager. Shut down, unplugged / replugged both drives, rebooted and again, it reported usn problem but this time apparently fixed it.
After logging in all drives were present, and I ran Seatools long tests which found no issues. Haven't had the time to run Crystal Disk yet as hadda get work out the door.
Questions:
1. Never ran into the usn message before ... so am unsure if the fix was a fix or if the data was simply lost and blocks sterilized. Any way to check if anything corrupted / missing ?
2. Have backups but the file compare utility I have used in the past, listed every file as different as it was in a "/backup" folder. Any suggested alternatives ? We have backups stored on the network as well as a USB Dock
3. Will run more drive tests tonight
